Maratika Dhungdzin Rinpoche Awarded Honorary Doctorate in Social Works !!!
It is with great joy and profound respect that we announce a significant milestone in the life and mission of our beloved spiritual guide, Maratika Dhungdzin Rinpoche, who has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Social Works.
In a distinguished ceremony blending spiritual heritage with academic excellence, Wilmington Metropolitan University, California, USA, awarded the honorary degree to Dr. Karma Wangchhu Sherpa also known as Maratika Dhungdzin Rinpoche This prestigious recognition honors Rinpoche’s twenty-one years of dedicated service to global peacebuilding, humanitarian initiatives, and the preservation of spiritual and cultural heritage across the United States, Asia, and Europe.
Born into a respected lineage of Buddhist practitioners, Rinpoche began his spiritual training under the guidance of his father, Lama Ngawang Chopher Gyatso Rinpche. He later became a close disciple of the late His Holiness Kyabje Trulshik Rinpoche, from whom he received the profound teachings of the Nyingma tradition.
In 1998, he was formally enthroned as the Lineage Holder of Maratika and appointed Abbot of the sacred Maratika Monastery in Nepal, a site of immense historical and spiritual significance.
Beyond his responsibilities at Maratika Monastery, Rinpoche has played a significant global role in promoting peace and compassion. For more than two decades, he has led international initiatives across multiple countries, focusing on world peace prayer assemblies, ethical education through Maratika Yangti Dharma Centres, and inclusive community development projects that transcend ethnic, cultural, and religious boundaries.
The convocation ceremony was held at the Vivatel Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, coinciding with the 4th anniversary of Wilmington Metropolitan University’s regional branch. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Azlan Ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Riayatuddin Al-Mu’azzam Shah, of the Royal Family of Malaysia, who presented the honorary degree to Rinpoche alongside 15 other distinguished international recipients.
